SunGard expands collocation and managed services centers in Atlanta
SunGard Availability Services announced it will expand its data centers and collocation centers in Atlanta to meet customer demand for more managed services. By building more data centers, SunGard says it will help customers address their business needs without having to build or manage their own data centers. SunGard currently has 35 managed services facilities in both North America and Europe.
CMS Products releases instant server recovery software, BounceBack Server
CMS Products Inc. announced that it has released new instant recovery software, the BounceBack Server. The BounceBack Server is designed to protect data by creating a mirror image of a server onto an external USB hard drive. If the server fails or becomes inoperable, BounceBack Server allows users to restart it in an "instant server recovery" mode from the USB hard drive. It works well with small- to medium-sized businesses (SMBs), and includes a file recovery system, network backup, automatic unattended backup and 256-bit AES encryption.
Virsto Software introduces new storage virtualization software, Virsto One
Virsto Software announced the release of a new storage virtualization software, Virsto One. Virsto One was designed to increase the agility of storage in virtual environments. It enables users to virtualize storage-intensive workloads, consolidate server and storage hardware and reduce storage management complexity. Virsto One is designed to reduce the complexity of storage for virtual servers by cutting virtual machine (VM) image space consumption, increasing storage performance by eliminating the I/O blender and simplifying storage management by creating off-host snapshot backups and automatic VM storage provisioning.
Virsto One is offered as a plug-in to Microsoft Hyper-V and is available at the end of February.
CloudBerry Lab releases CloudBerry Backup version 1.4
CloudBerry Lab announced the release of CloudBerry Backup version 1.4, an application allowing users to back up their data online to their Amazon S3 accounts. CloudBerry Backup is used to provide data backup and recovery, so in case of a disaster, critical data is stored in a separate location. It's also available as a Windows Home Server add-on, offering scheduled data backups to cloud storage hosted on Amazon S3. Upgrades for version 1.4 include more specific configuration options such as thread numbers and priorities. It also optimizes more memory, providing for less resource consumption. CloudBerry Backup version 1.4 is available at $29.99 for a single-user license.
NaviSite agrees to host Data Age Digi-Shield continuous offsite data backup service as part of its data protection and disaster recovery service
NaviSite Inc. and Data Age Business Systems Inc. announced they agreed that NaviSite will provide its data protection and disaster recovery hosted services to back up all Data Age customers' mission-critical data as part of their Data Age Digi-Shield continuous offsite data backup service.
NaviSite's data protection and disaster recovery services include the following: tape backup services, online data backup services and hot, warm and cold disaster recovery site options.
