Verizon Business aims to back up and restore data without overburdening networks
Verizon Business announced the launch of Verizon Remote Backup and Restore, a suite of managed services performing automatic data backup and restore functions for servers and PCs. Using data deduplication, the new offering employs a variable block size to automatically identify new data for storage and reduce daily data transmission. This capability also eliminates the backup of redundant data, reducing network bandwidth and storage capacity requirements without burdening critical applications.

Kroll Ontrack Inc. announced it enhanced its data recovery tools suite to include e-mail recovery capabilities for MacMail and Microsoft Corp. Entourage. Ontrack can now recover corrupt or inaccessible MacMail or Entourage email data when a user account is deleted, a system crashes or corrupted email messages appear when accessing files. The new capabilities can also recover emails when a disk overwrite occurs, resulting in complete loss of mail folders.

AppAssure Software Inc. announced a new Replay AppImage SQL Pack which delivers faster backup speeds than native SQL backups. AppAssure's new platform also optimizes storage resources by reducing the overall storage footprint.
